Pray for those who are persecuted –
in the US and abroad.
Seek Christ and follow Him – no matter the cost (big or small).
I find it very interesting that many so-called “Christian leaders” are encouraged by the Puritans and Separatists and Anabaptists, etc - who were under heavy persecution from Rome and the Anglican “church” and the monarch, etc. … But then they turn around and in the next breath, they encourage people to follow them as they blaze a path for us in American to somehow “re-establish” a society where we will be “safe” from persecution? Those men either haven’t read their Bibles in a while, or worse they don’t know Jesus or the Bible. That’s what makes them wrong every single time. These types of false teachers very, very often love money and apparently will write whatever false book, or magazine, or movie, etc that they can find to make with whatever pleasant, but anti-Biblical message they can get to the people to get them to stop standing against satan’s schemes… very sad.
But, even if those false teachers won’t read these passage and take them to heart, all of us should!
“10 Blessed are those who are
persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. 11
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil
against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice
and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they
persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew
5:10-12)
“18 If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.” (John 15:18-21)
“9 For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; for we have been made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men. 10 We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored! 11 To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. 12 And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure; 13 being defamed, we entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now. 14 I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I warn you.” (1 Corinthians 4:9-14)
“12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” (2 Timothy 3:12-13)
“1 Therefore,
since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same
mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 that
he no longer should live the rest of his
time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. 3 For
we have spent enough of our
past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles--when we walked in lewdness,
lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. 4
In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of
dissipation, speaking evil of you.
5 They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the
living and the dead. 6 For this reason
the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged
according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. 7 But
the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your
prayers.”
(1 Peter 4:1-7)
God’s Word commands us not to build an earthly kingdom, but to live for Him and seek God’s Heavenly Kingdom.
“19 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22 The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6:19-24)
“13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. 15 And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.” (Hebrews 11:13-16)
“1 Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 Spiritual adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"? 6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” (James 4:1-8)
“15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” (1 John 2:15-17)
“34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, ‘Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it. 36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? 37 Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.’” (Mark 8:34-38)
“1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2)
“20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)
“15 And what
accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And
what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are
the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I
will be their God, And they shall
be My people." 17 Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." 18 "I will be a
Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the LORD Almighty." 1
Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us
cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting
holiness in the fear of God.”
(2 Corinthians 6:15-18, 7:1)
“9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” (2 Peter 3:9-13)
“5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. 10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 1:5-11)
In conclusion:
I admonish all who will listen: please do not let someone wander you back to the comfort of sins or an easy life, with no fear of persecution for following Christ. That is a very devious and dangerous teaching of satan, and his men. Do your best to not be a part of building anyone’s earthly kingdom or happiness, but do your best to be a part of encouraging, challenging, inspiring (even rebuking/exhorting where needed) everyone you can to turn from the empty and sin-cursed trinkets of earth and earth’s sin-pleasures, and to seek a Heavenly Kingdom – studying God’s Word deeply and reminding others to do the same. That is what we are to be busy about till our final breath. Amen?
“1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?” (Galatians 3:1)
“8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:8-10)
