Verses on the Millennium
[Scriptural descriptions of the Millennium from
Old and New Testaments. These are not all of the Scriptures about the
Millennium, but they are some of them. Some of these passages do reference the
forever unfolding Kingdom of God into eternity, but all of these, as best as I
can tell from the context of the passages, are mostly in reference to the 1000
year reign of Christ after the up-coming seven-year Tribulation, referenced in Revelation
20]
"2 Now
it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD'S
house shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above
the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. 3 Many people
shall come and say, 'Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the House of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.' For out of Zion
shall go forth the law, and the Word of the LORD
from Jerusalem. 4 He shall judge between the nations, and
rebuke many people; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their
spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither
shall they learn war anymore." (Isaiah 2:2-4)
"6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the
government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful,
Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of
the increase of His government
and peace There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it
with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the
LORD of hosts will perform this."
(Isaiah 9:6,7)
"19 You will not see a fierce people, A people of obscure
speech, beyond perception, of a stammering tongue that you cannot understand. 20 Look upon Zion,
the city of our appointed feasts; your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet home, A
tabernacle that will not be
taken down; Not one of its stakes will ever be removed, nor will any of its
cords be broken. 21 But there the majestic LORD will be for us a place of broad rivers and streams, in which no galley with oars will sail, nor
majestic ships pass by 22 (For the LORD is our
Judge, the LORD is our Lawgiver, the LORD is our King; He will save us); 23 Your tackle is
loosed, they could not strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail. then
the prey of great plunder is divided; the lame take the prey. 24 And
the inhabitant will not say, "I am sick"; The people who dwell in it will be forgiven their iniquity."
(Isaiah 33:19-24)
"'17 For behold, I create new
heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to
mind. 18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; For
behold, I create Jerusalem as a
rejoicing, And her people a joy. 19 I will rejoice in
Jerusalem, And joy in My people; The voice of weeping shall no longer be heard
in her, Nor the voice of crying. 20 No more shall an infant
from there live but a few days,
Nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days; For the child shall die one
hundred years old, But the sinner being
one hundred years old shall be accursed. 21 They shall build
houses and inhabit them; They
shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 22 They shall not
build and another inhabit; They shall not plant and another eat; For as the
days of a tree, so shall be the
days of My people, And My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. 23 They
shall not labor in vain, Nor bring forth children for trouble; For they shall be the descendants of the
blessed of the LORD, And their
offspring with them. 24 It shall come to pass That before they
call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear. 25 The
wolf and the lamb shall feed together, The lion shall eat straw like the ox,
And dust shall be the serpent's
food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain' Says the LORD." (Isaiah 65:17-25)
>> Verse 17 appears to be a
promise/prophecy of the future eternity with God that happens after the
Millennium, but then you see the change of subject at the beginning of verse 18
and continues to verse 25.
"8 'For it shall come to pass in that day,' Says the LORD of hosts, 'That I will break his yoke from your neck, And will burst your
bonds; Foreigners shall no more enslave them. 9 But they shall serve
the LORD their God, And David
their king, Whom I will raise up for them. 10 'Therefore do not
fear, O My servant Jacob,' says the LORD,
'Nor be dismayed, O Israel; For behold, I will save you from afar, And your
seed from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall return, have rest and be
quiet, And no one shall make him
afraid. 11 For I am
with you,' says the LORD, 'to
save you; Though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you,
Yet I will not make a complete end of you. But I will correct you in justice,
And will not let you go altogether unpunished.'"
(Jeremiah 30:8-11)
"23 I will establish one shepherd over them, and he
shall feed them--My servant David. He shall feed them and be their shepherd. 24 And
I, the LORD, will be their God,
and My servant David a prince among them; I, the LORD, have spoken."
(Ezekiel 34:23-24)
"24 David My servant shall
be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd; they shall also
walk in My judgments and observe My statutes, and do them. 25 Then
they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, where your
fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell there, they, their children, and their
children's children, forever; and My servant David shall be their prince forever. 26 Moreover I
will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting
covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My
sanctuary in their midst forevermore. 27 My tabernacle also
shall be with them; indeed I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 28 The
nations also will know that I, the LORD,
sanctify Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forevermore."
Ezekiel 37:24-28)
"'11 On that day I will raise up The
tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, And repair its damages; I will
raise up its ruins, And rebuild it as in the days of old; 12 That
they may possess the remnant of Edom, And all the Gentiles who are called by My
name,' says the LORD who does
this thing. 13 'Behold, the days are coming,' says the LORD, 'When the plowman shall overtake
the reaper, and the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The mountains shall
drip with sweet wine, And all the hills shall flow with it. 14 I will bring back the captives of My
people Israel; They shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and
drink wine from them; They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them. 15 I
will plant them in their land, And no longer shall they be pulled up From the
land I have given them', Says the LORD
your God." (Amos 9:11-15)
"1 Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD'S
house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted
above the hills; and peoples shall flow to it. 2 Many nations shall
come and say, 'Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.' For out of Zion the
law shall go forth, and the Word of the LORD
from Jerusalem. 3 He shall judge between many peoples, and rebuke
strong nations afar off; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and
their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore." (Micah 4:1-3)
" 1 Behold,
the day of the LORD is coming, And
your spoil will be divided in your midst.
2 For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
The city shall be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half of the
city shall go into captivity, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut
off from the city.
3 Then the LORD
will go forth And fight against those nations, As He fights in the day of
battle. 4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of
Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be
split in two, From east to west, Making
a very large valley; Half of the mountain shall move toward the north And half
of it toward the south. 5 Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, For the
mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you shall flee As you fled from the
earthquake In the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Thus the LORD my God will come, and all the saints with you.
6 It shall come to pass in that day That there will be no light; The lights will diminish. 7 It
shall be one day which is known to the LORD--
Neither day nor night. But at evening time it shall happen That it will be light. 8 And
in that day it shall be that
living waters shall flow from Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea
And half of them toward the western sea; In both summer and winter it shall
occur. 9 And the LORD
shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be-- "The LORD is one," And His name one.
10 All the land shall be turned into a plain from Geba to
Rimmon south of Jerusalem. Jerusalem
shall be raised up and inhabited in her place from Benjamin's Gate to the place
of the First Gate and the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananeel to the king's winepresses. 11 The people shall dwell in it; And no
longer shall there be utter destruction, But Jerusalem shall be safely
inhabited.
12 And this shall be the plague with which
the LORD will strike all the
people who fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh shall dissolve while they
stand on their feet, Their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, And their
tongues shall dissolve in their mouths. 13 It shall come to
pass in that day That a great
panic from the LORD will be among
them. Everyone will seize the hand of his neighbor, And raise his hand against
his neighbor's hand; 14 Judah also will fight at Jerusalem. And
the wealth of all the surrounding nations Shall be gathered together: Gold,
silver, and apparel in great abundance. 15 Such also shall be
the plague On the horse and the
mule, On the camel and the donkey, And on all the cattle that will be in those
camps. So shall this plague be.
16 And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the
nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship
the King, the LORD of hosts, and
to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 17 And it shall be that whichever of the families of the
earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, on them there will be no
rain. 18 If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in,
they shall have no rain; they shall receive the plague
with which the LORD strikes the
nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 19 This
shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do
not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 20 In that day
"HOLINESS TO THE LORD" shall be engraved on the bells of the horses. The pots in the LORD'S house shall be like the bowls
before the altar. 21 Yes, every pot in Jerusalem and Judah
shall be holiness to the LORD of
hosts. Everyone who sacrifices shall come and take them and cook in them. In
that day there shall no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts." (Zechariah
14)
"1 Then I
saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and
a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that
serpent of old, who is the
Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he cast
him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he
should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But
after these things he must be released for a little while. 4 And
I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been
beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not
worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived
and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 But the rest of
the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed
and holy is he who has part in
the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall
be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years. 7 Now
when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison." (Revelation
20:1-7)
